Hook: Size I

Join each round with
a slip stitch in first stitch and chain 2. Do not turn.
R1: Magic
Loop, ch2, 6dc in loop. Pull the magic loop tight and join in first stitch.
At this point be sure that the right side is on the outside. You will basically
be making a tube for many rows. At this point I threaded the tail from the
magic circle onto a needle and threaded it through the center of the 6 dc so it
was hanging outside the hat and not inside it. otherwise it will be impossible
to weave in later.
R2: Ch2, dc in each dc, join round
with sl st to first dc
R3 - 21: keep doing 6 dc in each
round.
R22 - 38: 2 dc in first stitch &
4th stitch. dc in the rest. Keep working this way increasing each round by 2 by
crocheting 2 dc in the first & center stitch of each round. By R38 you will have 40 dc.
R39 – 43: dc around. Tie
off and weave in ends.
Make a pom-pom and attach it to the end of the tail.

Day 2: Pot Holder

History: This pattern is very dear to my heart. My great grandmother started this pattern and it was passed on to me by my great aunt. Both of these wonderful ladies have influenced my life so much and they are greatly missed.

Yarn:
Sugar and Cream (2), Peaches and Cream (2), or RED HEART® “Super Saver®” (1). I have used all three types of yarn. Sugar and Cream & Peaches and Cream are a cotton yarn and you will need two skeins to make a set of pot holders. RED HEART® “Super Saver®” (1) is another yarn that I love. Depending on the size you can get two or three sets of pot holders from on skein.

Crochet Hook: H hook and yarn needle

Ch 39. Sc in second st and in each ch across. 2 sc in last st. Now sc across the other side of ch. Join to 1 st sc. Now sc in back loop of each st; going around for about 17 times. It will fold into a square. With yarn needle, stitch the center and weave in ends. If you would like a bigger pot holder you add more to your beginning ch.

Fasten off. Mark 3rd ch-5 loop from joining.

3rd-15th Snowflakes: Work same as First Snowflake through Rnd 2.

Joining Rnd 3: Slip st in next sc, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 2) all in next ch-3 loop, with wrong sides together, slip st in the marked ch-5 loop of last snowflake made, (ch 2, sc, ch 3, sc) all in same ch-3 loop, ch 2, [(sc, ch 3, sc, ch 5, sc, ch 3, sc) all in next ch-3 loop, ch 2] 5 times; join. Fasten off. Mark 3rd ch-5 loop from joining.

FINISHING: Weave in ends.

I used this garland to decorate my tree. My garland contained 75 snowflakes to weave across the front of my Christmas Tree. And I used RED HEART® “Shimmer®” 2 Skein White.
