2014 Resoutions

2013 was a whirl wind for me and my family.  In some ways looking back on the year I feel like I lost myself and in other ways I feel like it has redefined who I am and who I am going to be.

In 2013:
  • I went back to school (Marian University, Masters of Educational Technology)
  • I became a godmother
  • My mother turned 50
  • I severely sprained my ankle the first night of softball practice and was on crouches for 3 weeks
  • I decided I didn’t love my job
  • My cousin graduated from high school and followed in my footsteps; GO WSU!
  • I gained a sister-in-law
  • My uncle gave us a very big scare
  • I played a lot of volleyball
  • One of my best friends became a grandmother
  • I decided I loved my job
  • I decided I hated my job
  • I stopped coaching
  • My aunt turned 40
  • My grandpa gave us a HUGE scare
  • I turned 29
  • For one weekend I was a business owner with one of my besties
  • My best friend in the entire world became a mommy for the first time!
  • Joined an ornament swap!
  • I crocheted a little (this makes me sad), took pictures, crafted a lot, spent time with family and friends
At the start of 2013 I made a couple of resolutions.  I don’t know why I make them because I can never keep them.  But here they are.
  1. Stop drinking pop!—this went very well until the end of August when I hated my job.
  2. Lose weight—well I lost, I gained, I gained, I lost, I gained!  Sue me I’m human.
That is why in 2014 I’m making check lists instead of resolutions.  I love check lists, you feel so accomplished when you check something off of your list!  I feel that in order to make my 2014 check list that I need to really look at what is important to me personally and professionally.  So here is my list of values:
Myself—that might make me selfish but I don’t care.
My husband and the love of my life!
My family and friends
Yarn & Crocheting
Crafting
Owls & Roosters
Cooking & Baking
Photography
Business Education & Educational Technology
Snowmobiling, Softball, Swimming, & Volleyball

January 2014 Checklist
  1. Open my very own Etsy shop for Crafted with Love.  I have been hemming and hawing over this for some time because I couldn't decide if I wanted it to be a job.  My shop with have various items in it that range from crocheting, to wood working, to crafting, to jewelry.  It will be everything I want it to be and it will be opened and closed when I want it to be.  I don’t want this to become another 8+ hour day job that I dread having.
  2. To start the year I signed up for Crochet Mood Blanket 2014.  Each day you crochet one square for your blanket and end up with 365 squares.  I’m being very ambitious because in 2013 I didn't crochet as much as I hoped to.  I am creating 2-365 blankets.  Following me on Instagram to follow along:  jamieannschmitz and follow along at #crochetmoodblanket2014.
  3. I have also signed up for Pray Swap Box.  I have never done anything like this before and am so excited!  I will be encouraging another person in the New Year.  I will be creating 5 items that will bring my partner joy in the New Year!   Follow along at #PrayerBoxSwap14.
  4. Start my very own color challenge.  I will choose a color scheme.  Use the color scheme to inspire you to create something.  You can choose 2 or more colors to create something for yourself or something to give to someone.  My goal is to do this every month and inspire myself and others to expand their creativity.
  5. To blog every week.  I haven’t blogged since February of 2012.  My goal is to blog every week for this year.
  6. Not to buy bottled pop at work.  I can save so much money by doing this!
  7. Walk on my Bow Flex Tread Climber every day.
  8. Spend more time with family and friends, take lots of pictures, crochet every day, and live life to its fullest.
  9. My blog and Facebook page will be getting a make over!
And this is just for January.  Some things will get carried over into each month and some will change.  Either way these are MY checklists for January 2014.

Thank you to all of my family and friend for their love and support over the past year.  Without them I would be lost.  And thank you to everyone who has been a client of mine along my journey to find my voice in my business Crafted with Love.  And that is exactly what every project of mine is.  Crafted with Love and designed especially for each and every client.  And that is what I love!

Beautiful Hats for Beautiful Little Girls

A friend of mine asked me to make hats for her 3 little girls.  Each little girl is very unique and special and that is what came out in each of their hats, something very unique and special.

The first hat is a Slouchy Beret.  The hat is crochet with Red Heart Gold Super Savor Yarn and embellished with Red Heart Heather Grey Super Savor Yarn.  The pattern is by www.CUTEureCreations.com.

The second hat is a summer hat.  The hat is crochet with Red Heart Sandy Print Super Saver Economy Yarn and Red Heart Cafe Super Saver Economy Yarn.  This pattern is from the web, but I cannot find the website it came from anymore.

The third is actually a headband.  The headband is crochet with Red Heart Heather Gray Super Saver Economy Yarn.  This is a pattern that I created just for this special little girl.  I embellished it with a gray flower as well.

All three little girls are very lucky and I was very lucky and excited to get to make all three of these for them.

March Hat of the Month

Introducing the March Hat of the Month--Lucky! I am very excited about this newborn hat. It is a leprechaun hat made with Red Heart Lime Shimmer Yarn, Red Heart Black Shimmer Yarn and with Red Heart Cornmeal Super Saver Economy Yarn.  It is a Lime hat with a black bar and cornmeal buckle.  This hat is perfect for any Irish baby or any St. Patty's babies.

February Hat of the Month

I know this is a little late as we are already into March, however, introducing the February Hat of the Month--Lovey Dovey! I am very excited about this newborn hat. It is an ear flap hat made with Red Heart Soft White Super Saver Economy Yarn and embellished with Lion Brand Tulips Homespun Yarn. I added a burst of color in the middle of the hat, trimmed the edges, and added a heart to each ear flap.  This is a great photo prop for all babies!
